One Substance,
Three Names.
Wallace Wattles calls the raw material of the universe Original Substance, Formless Stuff and Thinking Stuff. Same thing, three angles. Once you see the order they belong in, the whole chapter clicks. Explained in English and Malayalam.

Why one thing needs three names
Most people trip on this chapter because it sounds like Wattles keeps changing his mind. He doesn't. He is describing a single substance, and each name answers a different question.
Where does it come from? That question gets Original Substance. What state is it in? That gets Formless Stuff. What does it do when you think? That gets Thinking Stuff.
Learn them in that order, origin, then state, then function, and the confusion disappears. If you pick up "Thinking Stuff" first, it is easy to end up believing the universe is a wish-granting machine. Start from origin and you understand something better: you are working with the same material everything else is made of.

Original Substance
Everything in the universe comes from one basic material, not from many different materials sitting side by side. One source, many shapes.
Wattles calls it the "first cause" substance. Matter, life, elements and structures all come after it; they are the shapes this substance has taken. The substance itself is never created or destroyed, only shaped and reshaped. Once you accept this, the rest of the book stops sounding mystical and starts sounding practical: one source, endless products.

Pure gold and the jewellery
A goldsmith melts one bar into rings, chains and coins. Break the ring and recast it as a coin; the gold never changed. The gold is Original Substance. The jewellery is form.
മാല, വള, മോതിരം എന്നിവ ഒരേ തങ്കത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ്. രൂപം മാറ്റാം; സ്വർണ്ണം ഒന്നായിത്തന്നെ തുടരുന്നു. ഇവിടെ സ്വർണ്ണമാണ് Original Substance, ആഭരണങ്ങൾ ഭൗതിക രൂപങ്ങളും.
Code behind a game world
Mountains, cars, rivers, characters. On screen they look like different things. Underneath they are the same binary. That root code is the Original Substance of the whole virtual world.
ഗെയിമിലെ കാടുകളും മനുഷ്യരും കെട്ടിടങ്ങളും ഒരേ കോഡിൽ (0 & 1) നിന്നാണ്. ഈ അടിസ്ഥാന കോഡാണ് ആ ലോകത്തിന്റെ Original Substance.
Atoms under everything
A wooden chair, human skin, water and iron look completely different on the surface. Underneath, they are all made of the same protons, neutrons and electrons. One set of particles builds every object you own.
മരം, ഇരുമ്പ്, വെള്ളം, മനുഷ്യ ശരീരം — വിഭജിച്ചു നോക്കിയാൽ ഒരേ ആറ്റങ്ങളും ഇലക്ട്രോണുകളും. ഈ കണികകളാണ് എല്ലാറ്റിന്റെയും പ്രാഥമിക മൂലവസ്തു.
Formless Stuff
Now that you know there is one source, the next question is: what condition is it in before it becomes a house, a tree or a rupee?
Formless. No shape, no colour, no edge of its own. It is not sitting in a warehouse somewhere; it fills every bit of space, including the gaps inside and between the things you can see. Wattles' claim is that before anything is tangible it exists as pure, unformed potential. The word to underline is potential. It is not nothing. It is something that has not yet taken a shape.

A lump of wet clay
The block has no fixed form. The artist gives it one: vase, bowl, statue. Clay is the formless stuff; the finished piece is the formed thing. Same clay either way.

Water and the ice sculpture
Liquid or vapour, water holds no shape. Freeze it in a mould and you get swans, palaces, cubes. Liquid is the formless state; ice is physical reality.
വെള്ളത്തിന് നിശ്ചിത രൂപമില്ല. അച്ചുകളിൽ ഒഴിച്ച് തണുപ്പിച്ചാൽ പല രൂപത്തിലുള്ള ഐസ് ആകുന്നു. ഒഴുകുന്ന വെള്ളം 'Formless', ഐസ് 'Formed'.
Energy before matter
Physics tells us matter is condensed energy (E = mc²). Energy on its own has no shape; slowed and structured, it becomes atoms, cells, objects. This is a picture, not a proof; see the note further down.
ഊർജ്ജത്തിന് സ്വന്തമായി രൂപമില്ല, എന്നാൽ എല്ലാ ആറ്റങ്ങളും പദാർത്ഥങ്ങളും നിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത് ഊർജ്ജത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ്.
Thinking Stuff
This is the term that tells you how creation actually happens, and where you fit in.
The substance is not dead matter. Wattles says it is alive, intelligent and conscious, and that it takes form by responding to thought. Impress a clear idea on it and it begins moving toward that idea, through natural laws and through other people. That last phrase matters. Wattles never says the house appears out of thin air. He says the substance starts a process, and the process runs through farmers, builders, bankers and your own hands.

Soil and the mango seed
Soil is not inert dirt; it carries biological intelligence. Plant a mango seed, which carries the "idea" of a mango tree, and the soil feeds exactly that idea. It will never grow you an apple by mistake.

A prompt into an AI image generator
Type a clear sentence and the engine understands it and renders a picture. The engine behaves like thinking stuff: aware of the instruction, forming output to match. A vague prompt gives a vague picture. A clear prompt gives a clear one. You already know this from using these tools.

The architect and the crew
The skyscraper exists first as a mental blueprint. The architect communicates it; engineers and workers make it rise. The idea travelled from one mind, through many hands, into steel. That journey from thought to physical form is the principle at work.
ശില്പിയുടെ മനസ്സിൽ ആദ്യം ശില്പത്തിന്റെ രൂപം തെളിയുന്നു. ആ ചിന്ത കൈകളിലേക്കും ഉളിയിലേക്കും പകർന്ന് കല്ലിൽ യാഥാർത്ഥ്യമാകുന്നു.
Impress a thought on the formless field
Type anything, or pick a chip. The field is formless until you give it a clear idea. Clear the thought and it goes formless again. An empty prompt gives you nothing. A clear one gives you a shape.
Four sentences on supply
These four lines hold the whole idea. Read each one, then the plain-language version, then the picture that makes it stick.
There is no limit to the supply of Formless Stuff, or Original Substance.
The fundamental energy or source material behind all physical things is infinite and inexhaustible. There is no shortage and no boundary.

The universe is made out of it; but it was not all used in making the universe.
Planets, stars and life were formed from this energy, but building the cosmos used only a fraction of what exists. Plenty of unformed material remains.

The spaces in, through, and between the forms of the visible universe are permeated and filled with the Original Substance; with the formless Stuff; with the raw material of all things.
What looks like empty space around and inside objects is saturated with invisible, unformed creative potential.
ശൂന്യമെന്ന് നാം കരുതുന്ന ഇടങ്ങളെല്ലാം യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ ഈ അദൃശ്യമായ മൂലവസ്തുവിനാൽ തിങ്ങിനിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുകയാണ്.

Ten thousand times as much as has been made might still be made, and even then we should not have exhausted the supply of universal raw material.
Abundance has no ceiling. Multiply everything ever created by ten thousand and the source still would not run dry.

This is the picture to keep in your head. The small bright cluster stands for everything that has ever been made: every star, planet, living thing and rupee. The wide field of dim dots around it is the substance still waiting to be used. In Wattles' view, scarcity is never a supply problem. It is a problem of how the supply is shared, and of how people think.

The analogies are pictures, the proof is your practice
The analogies on this page, gold, clay, water, atoms, code, are pictures to help you see the idea. They are illustrations, not scientific proof. Wattles never claimed a laboratory could prove Thinking Stuff. In Chapter 4 he asks you to take the fundamental statements on faith, and then prove them the only way they can be proved: by living them.
That is the Young Maker way too. Take the idea seriously, hold a clear picture, act on it, and let your results be the evidence.
